Really?

Why yes, it's finally a new post. Josiah's broken arm from August has long since healed. Pins removed. Barely a memory as countless new events and outings and activities and funny quotes...and, well, life...has passed in the intervening months.

I have so many photos and stories from the fall but am unlikely to find the time to backtrack and post. Instead, the realistic path is to {re}start at the present. Jesse is in the midst of a 10 day trip to Romania and Ukraine, so back to basics: Blogging for Daddy.

First, the good news: We were all crazy sick last week. No really, that's good news — because it happened before Jesse left. Here was William just on Sunday, when he was inexplicably struck down for a second time with the tummy bug after having been better for several days (and despite my whole-house disinfecting mania...after I was back on two feet again too, that is!). Jesse, we couldn't have made it through last week without you!

For comparison, here's Mr. Cheeky now, 48 hours later (with modesty photo editing):
You'll be delighted to know, Jesse, that William in the last two days has taken a sudden keen interest in using the potty. He was successful in finding wee-wees last night before bed. Josiah and I pranced and danced around the bathroom in celebration, and William just about burst with pride. This evening he clearly was geared up for a repeat performance and sat there expectantly for half an hour, 'til I feared his little bottom was at risk of becoming permanently ringed. He refused to descend, clutching toilet paper in each hand and insisting happily "wee-wees coming." Josiah and I read Frog and Toad stories aloud for ages, perched on the side of the tub, but alas, it was not to be. Mean Mommy eventually insisted that it was so far past bedtime that we simply had to abort the mission until tomorrow. We'll see how it goes!

(For the record, Josiah wanted the book in front of his face for the photo...)

Is it bad to say I love when Jesse goes out of town ... as we get blog posts?! :) Enjoyed the update! And for the record, Frog and Toad books are my favorite.
