A Walk

The other day the boys and I were playing outside. After a while we decided to take a walk around the neighborhood. Just one problem: neither of them actually wanted to walk. So they piled into the stroller together. I was skeptical at first, but Josiah showed me that the lap tray nearly closed and convinced me that this was a great plan. They were happy, and I'm always a sucker for occasions when the two of them want to cuddle and be together. I figured, why not?

Somehow as I pushed them along, I managed to be oblivious to the fact that William's status deteriorated en route to Mama Caz and Pop Pop's house a few minutes' walk away!

He never complained or squeaked, and Josiah didn't pipe up with any updates. Oops! Great mom, right? I was a little horrified (and more than a little amused!) when I came around to the front and saw him.

(Hmm. I'm scrutinizing the picture above. Is it just me, or does it appear that William is making a small, rather rude hand gesture? Maybe he was a little less okay with my awful parenting—and the fact that I chose to take a photo rather than instantly save him!—than I initially realized...   Oh dear. The photo has just gone from cute and funny to unintentionally disturbing!)

In any event, William decided to push rather than have another lap trip for the ride back home. Smart boy.

I from time-to-time do question your parenting skills! Were Will's feet dragging on the ground? Does he have "road rash?"

Perhaps I should defend myself a little. :) William wasn't *quite* this far gone while we were traveling, or else you're right that his poor feet would have been in jeopardy! He squirmed further down and out once we stopped and while I grabbed the camera. I had been concentrating so fully on walking reeeeally slowly and scrutinizing the ground to avoid every bump, since I didn't want to launch either of them out, that I didn't see the initial slippage in process. Whoops.
